I really enjoy your ruins themed paintings, they are all very good at giving a sense of what once was at not only that particular place, but in the background as well!
The old structure would have been a great place to sit by the fire and watch the coming storm pass by. People would sit and listen to the chirping of the rain in the lake and watch as each raindrop swelling the stream and bathing the trees. Alas, it is no more... and now the remaining walls of old can only give the birds some shelter from the howling winds driven over the mountain and over the plains. The place has long been a memory, lost in the same winds that forever caresses its former glory.
The transition from trees and clear sky to rather featureless plains and stormy clouds from left to right is really neat. I also like the the ruins aren't all super-epic like many ruins in paintings seem to be; everything's pretty tame, but effective; makes the scene quite believable.
